Why did "Joey", the Friends spinoff failed?

In this blog, we are going to see why Joey didn't make a success as F*R*I*E*N*D*S. There are some good things in the show,

1. It portrayed Joey as a successful person.

2. Joey deserved a happy ending. The show gave it.

3. The show was actually funny. It had its own good moments.

But what it missed was more important. Thus it lost its value among the audience.

Lack of F*R*I*E*N*D*S casts references / Cameos

F*R*I*E*N*D*S cast

Let's think we spent a decade with a gang of friends. What impact that would leave with us? It would be huge. We would still be in touch. Some blogs/researches/theories on the internet say such friendship may last forever. But there were only a few forgettable references of F*R*I*E*N*D*and not even a single cameo. It gave a huge disappointment.

The show lost its nature

Joey cast

This was not Joey's fault completely. Some audience were a part of it. People who were unable to accept the change considered Joey a mess. Because F*R*I*E*N*D*S cast had a connection which Joey lacked. It's more like a family sitcom. Let's visualize. It's Joey - his sister - her son - his dad who is also Joey's best friend Jimmy - And Joey's girlfriend with an ON & OFF relationship. Some F*R*I*E*N*D*S fans cannot take this. Also, people were already tired of this ON & OFF relationship thing.

It made a Blunder in a cast selection

Adam Goldberg as Jimmy in Joey
Adam Goldberg as Eddie in FRIENDS

Remember when I mentioned Joey's best friend - Jimmy in the previous topic? He (Adam Goldberg) already appeared in FRIENDS as a completely different character - Eddie Menuek in the episode "The One Where Eddie Moves In" - FRIENDS season 2 episode 17. That is where I got a little bit uncomfortable with the show. How can a production commit such a mistake? As the show already had its own problem, this continuity error added up one more.

The above things do leave a gap in the show, but it is up to the audience to adjust or just skip. During the release of its season 2, people just moved on to the other great shows. Maybe Joey failed in having a good release time as well. Well, the audience supports only perfect and comfortable shows.
